Du Sat, 22 Jun 2013 to Sun, 23 Jun 2013
Kursaal, 59140 Dunkerque
During the shool year, children, under the supervision of music teachers, made and learned to play drums, wind instruments and string instruments made from recycled materials such as fishing rod, plastic tubes, paint pots or even traffic cones! With four performances at the Kursaal Concert Hall in Dunkirk, they will have the opportunity to play these instruments with an orchestra of 150 musicians. In attempt to promote international unity, these young musicians shows us the musical richness and diversity of the the five continents.
This project was designed and directed by Philippe Langlet, director of the Dunkirk Conservatory of music and drama and it gathered around 1000 children between the ages of 8 and 10, from 29 diffrents classes as well as orchestras from the region. This unique ensemble will perform 9 contemporary works from the International Composition Competition for wind orchestra, organized by the Coups de Vents association, and one work by Mike Solomon, an associate composer from the Dunkirk conservatory.
